St. Nicholas Church (Nikolaikirche)

The Nikolaikirche, first mentioned in a document in 1293, is the main Protestant church in Löbau. Originally built as a two-aisled hall church with ribbed vault, it received its present ground plan in 1739/42 when a third nave with groin vault was added in the south. In 1884 it was restored in neo-Gothic style by Ludwig Gotthilf Möckel and received a new tower closure in 1895|96. In 1933|43 the chancel and pulpit were further redesigned by architect Carl J. Richter. Since 1981 the church tower has been renewed, the roof has been covered, the exterior has been renovated, the interior has been painted and heating has been installed. In 1992 the church received a new organ from Hermann Eule Orgelbau Bautzen.

New Apostolic Church | Ostsiedlung 7 a |02708 Löbau

The New Apostolic Church (Neuapostolische Kirche (NAK)) is a Christian church active throughout the world. Its doctrine is based on the Holy Scriptures. Today, almost nine million people worldwide profess the Newapostolic faith. In Germany it is the fourth largest Christian church, alongside the Catholic, Protestant and Orthodox Churches, with approximately 335,000 members.

The congregation in Löbau has existed for more than 70 years. The first service in Löbau was held on 12 February 1950. At that time, the newly founded church had 32 members, most of them displaced persons.

The children attend pre-Sunday and Sunday school and religious education. An active senior citizens' circle and a community choir with 30 singers, a children's choir, a group of musicians and a small youth group enrich life in the congregation.

Six priests and four deacons are responsible for the pastoral care of parishioners.

The new church was officially consecrated on 25 April 2021 after 17 months of construction at Ostsiedlung 7a in 02708 Löbau.

Church services are held every Sunday at 10am.
