In 1906 the Herrmannbad Löbau was one of the most modern open-air swimming pools in Saxony. By heating the water with cooling and condensation water from the nearby Bergquell brewery, the open-air pool was able to achieve a season extension of two months. In a construction period of only four months and at a cost of 30,000 Reichsmark, the pool was opened on 16 July 1906. The impulse and argument for the construction was a will of the yarn merchant Emil Bruno Herrmann, who died on 12 January 1906. He left a sum of 10,000 Reichsmark with the instruction to use the amount for the construction of an outdoor swimming pool.
The Herrmann-Bad is still run by the town of Löbau today. It is located on Vorwerkstraße not far from the Löbau stadium and the Löbau-Ost residential area. Herrmannbad was completely renovated and rebuilt in 2011 as part of the 6th Saxon State Garden Show. Not only the refreshing wetness, but also the children's playground and the beach volleyball courts invite to sports and games. Public parking spaces are located in the direct neighbourhood on Mozartstraße.
