Contemporary historical documents of our city - such as press cuttings | festive and occasional publications | programmes | newsletters as a comprehensive material documenting the history of the city, companies and associations;
The collection also includes event records, succession documents, newspaper collections and photographic documents.
Today the city archive holds approx:
40,000 folders (from the 15th century onwards) | 500 textbooks | 80 historical city books and chronicles with 8,000 documents - one of Saxony's richest collections of manuscripts and reference letters.
The selection includes documents from 1306 onwards, such as building and police records, book printings, guilds and trade fairs, merchants, taverns, schools, monastery and church records, brewery records, post office records and Landtag records, postal and Landtag matters | council protocols, chronicles | as well as municipal documents from Walddorf, Ebersdorf, Altlöbau, Oelsa, Tiefendorf, Kottmarsdorf and Lehn | records, collections and files from the "Third Reich" and "Socialist" times are available.
The archive team will be happy to give you advice and assistance. On request, copies and reproductions of archival and collective material can be made - as far as the state of preservation permits - for a small charge.
