An address worth visiting - especially for fans of historical railways - is the Löbau locomotive shed, Maschinenhausstraße 2, which is run by the Ostsächsische Eisenbahnfreunde association. The aim of the association, which was founded in 1990, is to counteract the closure of entire railway lines and the scrapping of railway vehicles. The "Ostsächsische Eisenbahnfreunde" (East Saxon Railway Friends) association and the "Freizeitgruppe historische Lokomotiven" (Historical Locomotives Leisure Group) have been working closely together for years in the field of preserving historical railway vehicles.

Numerous events, guided tours and special trips are offered. The annual engine house days are a magnet for visitors from Löbau and tourists. Here you can experience the railway technology of days gone by at close quarters and also marvel at rail vehicles of a special kind.

Werners Gartenbahn | Lauchaer Weg 1 | 02708 Löbau

The Werner Garden Railway is located directly on the B6 road, behind the AGIP petrol station at the entrance to Löbau from Bautzen. The light railway system was painstakingly built in the garden owned by the Werner family. It is a 200-metre oval track with a 600 mm wheelbase, complete with a KRAUSS 7790 steam locomotive. Parking spaces are available on the opposite site.

Special trips by steam or diesel locomotive are possible by prior arrangement!
